Built in 1923 by the Union Pacific Railroad, the Spanish-style Depot was once a bustling hub for travelers and commerce, playing a vital role in the region’s growth. Its striking architecture and rich past make it one of Nevada’s most treasured landmarks. Today, the Depot remains a symbol of Caliente’s heritage, serving as a community gathering place and a window into the past. Recently restored to its original terracotta exterior, this space will serve as a vibrant community hub for both residents and visitors. Named after President Abraham Lincoln, our county holds the stories of the Old West, of pioneers and dreamers who carved out a life in this rugged land. Step inside the Lincoln County Museum, and you’ll find relics of a time long past—weathered saddles, tools worn smooth by hard-working hands, and echoes of a county that once bustled with miners, ranchers, and lawmen—and still does. Every artifact speaks of resilience, grit, and the unshakable spirit that built the West. The museum is open to the public Monday-Saturday. We’ve been told by reputable sources it’s one of the “best historical museums” in the state of Nevada. ❤️ So today, as we tip our hats to the leaders of our nation, we also honor the history that made this place home. Take a quick detour off US 93, spend an hour exploring, and you’re almost guaranteed to spot a fossil in the shale deposits.
