A positive buzz exists among local business owners as they learn about and plan for new mountain biking trails under construction in Caliente.
A third in a series of workshops on the trails was held in Caliente Nov. 27-28, where businesses agreed on the need to work together to prepare, as the 40-mile trail system is constructed at Barnes Canyon and Kershaw-Ryan State Park.

The seventh annual Gingerbread Fun Run attracted 204 participants and 26 sponsors this year – the biggest year yet! Proceeds for the event went to support Pioche, Panaca, and Caliente Elementary Schools.
Step Outside, a popular outdoor recreation website, put three Lincoln County state parks in it’s top nine winter camping spots in Nevada. Congrats Cathedral Gorge, Echo Canyon, and Spring Valley State Parks.

On Thursday, Oct. 25, Cole and Zaily Bradshaw opened their new mobile business in Caliente, Life CafƩ Coffee and Roasting Company.
All customers were greeted with smiling, happy faces and everyone in line waited eagerly to taste their drinks.

Some people who attended the Dutch Oven Cook-Off at Cathedral Gorge State Park, Sept. 15, came from far away, without even knowing the event was going to take place.
Such was the case with a man and his family from Texas and a woman on vacation from Italy.

As more miles are added to the new trail system near Caliente, the community is considering ways to accommodate the thousands of mountain bikers expected to visit the area annually.
Restaurants to keep them well-fed, kiosks, signs, and brochures to keep them well-informed and coffee shops to keep them well-caffeinated were some of the many ideas tossed around at a community meeting on Sept. 11.
