LC Record: Eagle Valley hosts ā€˜Walk for the Cureā€™ to help fight breast cancer

This year, the entire pink-colored affair began at the Eagle Valley Resort with sign-ups and mingling. Sheila Romero prepared a light lunch for participants, and Jessica Markle assisted with sales and registration. 

Friends and families gathered inside the resort to pay the registration fees and, in some cases, to purchase hot pink shirts, bracelets and boas. Before long, the groups of participants slowly made their way out of the resort and began their six-mile trip to the reservoir. They were accompanied by extra vehicles in case anyone participating was unable to make the full trip.

LC Record: Owner raising money for restoration of Piocheā€™s GEM Theater

The GEM Theater in Pioche was purchased by Melissa Clary in January of 2020. The Record caught up with the new owner to see how progress is going with the restoration of the old building.

When the lights turned out in the GEM for the last time back in 2002, no one knew just how much time would pass before the place was shown some love again. Clary is now giving the theater some much-needed TLC and is planning to reopen, though she has a long road ahead of her. The property has drainage issues, and there are no original floor plans for the building, so it has been a slower start than originally planned.

BLM Ely District Office selling Christmas tree-cutting permits

The Bureau of Land Management Ely District Office is making Christmas tree-cutting permits available to the public. Permits cost $4 each with a limit of 10 per purchaser. Due to COVID-19 restrictions for in-person sales, the public may purchase permits by telephone or email only. 

The district office will accept requests through Friday, Dec. 11. Credit and debit cards will be accepted by calling the office at 775-289-1800. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Email requests to blm_nv_ely_do_otc_sales@blm.gov Email requests should include a name and daytime contact number. Allow one week for processing. 

Christmas trees may be harvested on all BLM-administered lands except those designated wilderness and wilderness study areas. The Ely (District) Resource Management Plan also prohibits Christmas tree harvesting in the Blue Mass, Highland Range, Lower Meadow Valley Wash, Mount Irish, Shoshone Ponds and Swamp Cedar areas of critical environmental concern. Only pinion-pine, juniper and white fir may be harvested. The cutting of all other trees is prohibited.

Alisha Everett with family, friends & community celebrated the grand opening of Whistlestop Salon in Caliente with a ribbon cutting.Ā  Alisha has brought us a beautiful new beauty salon with a special surprise for the little ones that come for service.

During one of their first events, Rhea & Kevin Roberts cut the red ribbon for the opening of Baubeeā€™s Barn, Lincoln County’s new wedding and events venue.Ā  They have constructed a truly beautiful & welcoming venue in Carrigan Estates.

Both businessā€™s are welcomed as Lincoln County Ambassadors!

This Is Reno showcases Lincoln County’s fishing getaway

Beckstand pointed out that Eagle Valley sits at a slightly higher elevation (5,869 feet) than other area reservoirs and is in a canyon, keeping the waters a little cooler for the hardcore trout fishermen and women.”
